Satellite technologies have provided an unprecedented view of wildlife for scientists to study. This clip from the BBC’s Earth From Space demonstrates how, when filming animals from space, researchers look for colors: Red on the icy Antarctic ground where a seal birth took place, to the white spots that identify an albatross colony on Bird Island, to Danger Island‘s patches of pink rock revealed the location of one of the largest penguin colonies on the planet.
