This edition of 29 Calendula art prints was made with six layers of color by linocut artist Elina Adrshina. Linocut is a type of block or relief print in which artists cut into blocks of linoleum, then ink and print the uncut areas.
Adrshina uses reduction printing in this video, a process that makes the final prints very special; in reduction printing, each layer of the illustration is destroyed to create the following layer of color. This makes it impossible to recreate the layered print from the same block.
